Several Topotheques have already gone online as part of the LEADER project „dahoam aufblian mit Erinnerungen“ (Blossoming at Home with Memories). This collecting process brings to light numerous historical documents that do not fit the specific themes of the individual municipal Topotheques. To ensure this historical material also becomes accessible to the public, the „Oberinnviertel-Mattigtal“ collective Topotheque was launched; it already showcases a variety of unique mementos. A ten-horse team transporting a massive tree trunk in Braunau, a house in Geretsberg that is a pristine example of regional architecture, elegantly dressed cyclists, and—in stark contrast—a groom in Auerbach covered in an unusual layer of dirt: these are just a few glimpses into the past that may well spark fresh memories of relatives, acquaintances, or places.
The work of collecting, digitizing, inquiring, reminiscing, and captioning continues across the region – from Mining to Lochen and from St. Radegund to Lengau. Perhaps, in time, these efforts will lead to the creation of independent local Topotheques.
