The Lower Austrian district capital Tulln has launched its Topotheque! The first pictures that can already be seen serve as an inspiration for those interested in history as to what kind of memorabilia can well illustrate the city‘s past. It is often found that the owners of old photos underestimate the historical value of their pictorial treasures. It doesn‘t have to be the political event or the natural disaster that is shown, but the particularly meaningful images are those that show the everyday. A view from the grain storage tower from 1959 shows the quiet town, still without a school building and with fields that stretched far into the center. It becomes exciting when you can solve the puzzles of old photos – or just ponder which products advertised on the posters and which shops back then had the offer to marvel at that is now of course delivered to your home by the courier services. And today we can only be surprised that business traffic was still carried out using motorcycles and handcarts. Transport container: backpack. Maybe you can also help the Topothequers in Tulln with whether we are actually looking south in this photo, as shown on the map, and what numbers the houses had. Because none of the visible facades are still in this form today.
