A / NOE: Lunz am See: Launch of Topotheque

The UNESCO World Heritage Center “House of Wilderness” provided the setting for the opening event of the Topotheque in the municipality of Lunz am See. Here, where the didactically unique insights into the largest primeval forest in the Alpine range in the Dürrenstein-Lassingtal wilderness area are given, over a hundred interested people came to take a look back into the local and landscape history in the already extensive Topotheque. Vice Mayor Hans Strohmayer welcomed the guests and was on the move with the microphone to take questions and new information from the audience, while Hans Sieberer presented a selection of the images.

A look at the topic lists in this topotheque quickly makes the most important areas accessible. A worthwhile introduction to the nostalgia of the place is via the search term demolished houses (abgerissene Häuser), which will bring up many a structural loss and also memories for many. The mills are also typical of the region, the pictures of which are already clearly summarized here. The Waldbahn (a forest railway) and Ybbstalbahn are of course also represented, as are numerous first-class documentations from working life in bygone eras. Rural work and many recordings of handicrafts, often from the blacksmith or lime-burning trade, testify to the lively activity in this otherwise peaceful-looking landscape, where the journey through time can begin at lunz.topothek.at.
