A / NOE: Harmannsdorf: Topothek online

In the Lower Austrian district of Korneuburg lies the community of Harmannsdorf, whose Topotheque has now become visible. A special feature of this new digital collection is the extensive house documentation from the 1970s to the present. Photographs from the beginning of digital photography in particular often fall through the cracks in storage because they are stored on data carriers that are sometimes no longer readable and the awareness of this era has not yet become the focus of “valuable, old” history. Likewise, everyday life is rarely documented, and so there is a lack of evidence of what was once a normal life without the reason for the recording being an accident, a procession or a celebration. An equally magnificent photo is the scene of the potato harvest in 1956, probably painted by the evening light. The picture of the steam locomotive lying on the roof is curious and still awaits further information: the railway specialists are in demand here. Click through Harmannsdorf‘s already large Topotheque, there are many, many more fascinating things to discover!
