In the German state of Rheinland-Pfalz, the Topotheque of the local history association of the municipality of Thaleischweiler-Fröschen has gone online in the district of Südwestpfalz. The community, which has been amalgamated from the towns of Thaleischweiler and Thalfröschen since 1969, is connected to the noble houses of Leiningen and Hanau-Lichtenberg, which ruled here for a long time. An important branch of the economy here was the shoe industry with 13 factories, of which three factories, Geisinger, Rothhaar and Schönenberger, can be seen in this young Topotheque already. The “Reno”-shoe company, which is still known today, was based in Thaleischweiler-Fröschen until 2016. A car of the phonetically almost identical brand is waiting at Egon Kölsch‘s gas station to be refueled by the boss himself. As is often the case, a closer look at everyday images reveals unexpected peculiarities. The construction of the slim gas station roof, which appears to float on transparent glass, is a particularly beautiful symbol of contemporary building from the 1950s.
