A / OOE: Garsten: Topotheque launched

The market town of Garsten is located in the Upper Austrian Traunviertel south of the statutory city of Steyr. Here the new Topotheque was presented to the interested public in the parish hall. Mayor Anton Silber opened the Garsten Topotheque with his words of welcome and thanks. Josef Wolfthaler, managing director of the LEADER region Traunviertler Alpenvorland, pointed out the successful introduction of the virtual collections in the region and Alexander Schatek briefly explained how the Topotheque is used for visitors. Topothequer Barbara Weikerstorfer then showed the first entries, which illustrate the key historical points of the market town. The former monastery, churches and chapels, school buildings, restaurants and farms as well as the Steyrtalbahn (railway) can already be seen. In an exemplary manner, this can also be accessed using markings in the image for views that do not superficially relate to the railway. In this way, a specific topic can be found across the images and valuable insights can be filtered out from images where you would never expect it. Try it out on this postcard with the two railway lines.
