The Carinthian community of Afritz, located in the Nockberge north of Villach, has put its Topotheque online. It starts with many pictures of events from the past 50 years, so that many more visitors can be invited to remember their own experiences together. Flashes of the local theater group‘s great moments long past can be captured, as can impressions of the football club, men‘s choir and band hat group. A special local event here is a custom that calls for an Easter departure into the landscape. It is the annual Kugelwölg‘n, which takes place on Easter Monday. Two teams try to hit a target, called a “Krasl,” with a bullet. The rules for setting up the goal again and again lead the groups from tavern to tavern…
Since the local history also includes serious events, some photos of the landslides in late summer 2016 can also be found.
Some textile creations that have long since gone out of fashion provide happier and more colorful throwbacks – take note of the sweater and tie – or the beautiful rubber roller pattern in the kitchen, which was probably combined from three matching paint rollers. Details of everyday life that can be remembered with a Topotheque.
