FI / Muolaa: Topotheque online

The municipality of Muolaa was located on the Karelian Peninsula in what was formerly Finnish territory. Around 12,000 people lived in the 650 km2 administrative area before it was annexed to the Soviet Union in 1944. Muolaaiteiden Seura, the association of the former residents of Muolaa, manages this new topotheque and has started digitizing its holdings. As a result, the association organizes the digital collection of photos and documents from private holdings in order to preserve the memories of Muolaa‘s history. The first entries offer a glimpse of the landscape, the people and their fates.
