The Tarsdorf Topothek was ceremoniously opened in the western part of the Upper Austrian district of Braunau. Many also came from neighboring communities, even from Bavaria, to exchange ideas about Tarsdorf‘s digital memorabilia. Mayor Andrea Holzner thanked everyone for the voluntary work they have done so far for the Topotheque and LEADER managing director Florian Reitsammer outlined the emerging Topotheque regional project. Rudolf Sigl, chairman of the cultural committee, presented the first entries and Jakob Mersch, Topothequer from nearby Hochburg-Ach reported on his experiences with his work. The new Topotheque is another access to private historical sources in the region, where the neighboring communities of St. Radegund and Hochburg-Ach already invite you to take virtual journeys through time. The oldest portraits found in this Topotheque date from before 1900 and, in addition to the striking facial features of those depicted, always convey an interesting piece of clothing history. The Stadler family, for example, presents magnificent tailoring from the 1910s, looking proudly into the camera. The juxtaposition of position photos and death pictures of the local soldiers offers a contemplative contrast. There are a particularly large number of group photographs from the first half of the 20th century in this Topotheque, and in many of them the names of those depicted have been secured, which might be able to illustrate the dry names with faces for family research. The service provided by the locomobiles was always a sensation that was worth capturing with an expensive photograph early on. Here in Tarsdorf there are even 18 photographs on this topic. In 1986, steam threshing was still demonstratively held up as a traditional work. A photo of steam threshing also shows the curious details that can always be found in photos: the hood of an Adler car from the 1930s has been placed on the old tractor. Get into the Topotheque Tarsdorf – maybe you too can find some interesting people or details!
