South of Interlaken on Lake Brienz lies the well-known winter sports resort of Wengen, where the pioneering spirit of tourism took hold at the end of the 19th century. It is therefore valuable that in addition to the visual evidence from the early days of the hotel industry, which are now accessible in this new Topotheque, a lot of the building structure has also been preserved, which contributes significantly to the traditional flair of Alpine tourism. The management of the hotel is aware of the history of the hotel and would like to use this Topotheque to make the past of the hotel and its surroundings available to visitors for deeper insight, but also to encourage many private holiday photos to be donated to the collection at least digitally. The knitting pattern with cables was invented in the 1930s and an even very young man seem to wear a tie when ice skating. 30 years later, wedge trousers and Norwegian patterns are the dictates of fashion and probably trade. Just like fashion, the shape of food changes, although not as much as you can see in these pictures. It‘s a shame that you can‘t understand the development of the taste. In addition to documenting the actual facts, a number of entries show ideas in the form of plans and sketches. More pictures will proof in the future to what extent some of this has been implemented. First of all, a planning search puzzle is given: Mentally walk through the corridors on the construction plan of the hotel in the winter of 1928 and find the two bathrooms, which are accessible from both a guest room and the corridor. I wonder why?
