A / NOE: Weinburg: Topotheque online

The new Topotheque in the municipality of Weinburg im Pielachtal fits perfectly between the Topotheques of Bischofstetten, Ober-Grafendorf, Rabenstein, Eschenau and Wilhelmsburg. With the publication of this Topotheque, a clear cross-section of local history can already be seen. The oldest school photo, from which numerous eyes look at us intently and expectantly – is a bird really coming out of the camera, as the photographer announced? – dates from 1899 and shows a remarkable amount of effort in clothing. At least in the front row, no child seems to go barefoot and the clothes are elaborately crafted. Not only one young man wears a gilet under his jacket and the adult ladies could definitely attend a ball in their robe. Of course, being photographed was something special that people dressed up for, but in many places not all children even had their Sunday best. The garden fence on Mariazeller Straße represents an airy contrast to current stone basket, plastic strip or even stainless steel slat fences from 1900. The pattern on the curtains also shows floral motifs. Starting from these oldest images, a dense thread of time can be traced into the present in Weinburg‘s new Topotheque, along which those who are familiar with Weinburg‘s past will find a number of memorabilia.
