A / NOE: Martinsberg: Topotheque online

For today it is a beautifully designed photo motif, but for the people of 1961 this photo was of more than just decorative significance: the home community framed by a water hose! In many communities it was not until the mid-1960s that the springs were tapped and pipes laid. So the daily troubles such as fetching water from the well, boiling it if the water was used as drinking water and the lengthy warming up for a bath could finally be put to an end. The young Topotheque of Maritinsberg in the Zwettl district also offers other historical features that are worth a visit. For example, the watchmaker‘s shop, which, with its meticulously precise contents, doesn‘t want to fit into the still very original surroundings with an unpaved street. It may be considered a special coincidence that the original watchmaker himself serves as a postcard figure! Both the business and Mr. Ganser can be seen here. A pictorial piece of the mosaic for the historiy of Austria between 1934 and 1938 is the procession to the district culture festival, on which two of the guild signs designed by the architect Clemens Holzmeister can be seen, which were shown as the „object of the week“ in the collection campaign of the House of History of Lower Austria. Who knows what inconspicuous but remarkable details you will still find in the Martinsberg Topotheque? Simply share your finds with topothecist Anneliese Haslinger! Or come to the public presentation of the Topotheque, which is planned for autumn. We will announce the date on the website.
