A / OOE: Kollerschlag: Historic afternoon with Topotheque

A successful example of the implementation of Topotheques in a region can be seen in the Rohrbach district. Started in and with the LEADER region “Danube-Bohemian Forest” and the district home association 10 years ago, the 25 Upper Austrian communities have set up Topotheques in the Rohrbach district. As a pilot project in Upper Austria but also as the first example of coordinated implementation in a region, the Topotheques initiated back then are still being maintained and expanded to this day. There is enough image material and knowledge available for historical afternoons like this one, which was held on February 29th at the “Grenzlos” inn. Ignaz Märzinger, Topothequer from Kolleschlag and Franz Saxinger, chairman of the district home association, welcomed 120 visitors to their lecture. The topic was the origin of village and house names, which, if you make them sound more precise, provide many impressive conclusions about the past, although only with some background knowledge. The name of the town Kollerschlag comes from a landlord, but was phonetically incorporated. The village once belonged to the Falkensteiner manor. There was a landlord there named “Kalhoch”, who incidentally was also the founder of Schlägl Abbey. He cleared the Kollerschlag area before 1360. This is where the word part “Schlag” comes from, originally “Calhohslage”. The pronunciation changed over time to “Kollerschlag”.
