A / NOE: Matzendorf-Hölles: Topotheque online

The Lower Austrian Steinfeld communities have gained another Topotheque. Matzendorf-Hölles, located on the western edge of the Vienna Basin, has opened its Topotheque and brings together the memorabilia of the local history, which was still separate but has been shared since 1971. The first focus, which almost all community residents still remember well, is the primary school. The development from the old school building through demolition and new construction to its opening can be seen in many pictures, here are just a few examples. Excerpts from the school chronicle provide an insight into school life in the 1946/47 school year. A striking event is the „Liberation Day“. There was also a ceremony on October 30, 1955 on the occasion of Austrian Independence Day, which is announced by a still-preserved poster. The simple form of this announcement reflects the spirit of the times and is also typographical a valuable contemporary document. A documentary that rarely exists in this form is Peter Wöhrer‘s video, in which the entire community was driven through in 1996 and shows the townscape as it appeared to everyone on a daily basis. The normal that is rarely documented. Take a look around the Matzendorf-Hölles Topotheque in good time, it will continue to grow quickly.
