A / OOE: Münzbach: Topotheque online

Situated in the lower Muehlviertel region of Upper Austria is the municipality of Münzbach, whose Topotheque has now gone online before the summer break in order to show interested parties the first clues for the emerging collection. A first red thread that a Topotheque makes possible is shown with the pictures of the Pilshofer family, among which the studio photo with the young couple in 1896 can be compared with the picture in everyday costume from the presumably 1930s. The time in between is also documented with a few family photos that document normal life in Münzbach. Lucky finds are also the untouched photos, because they are not embellished for postcards, and they drastically show the condition of the streets before the 1950s. In addition to the selected title photo, one can also guess that something so obvious as a street space could pose a constant problem. How do you think you will have arrived at the inn “Zur Post” with your new shoes after crossing this street? What an important role was played at that time for such an unnoticed object as a doormat! It is not „big history“ of course, this is often told anyway. Here we are dealing with photographs that allow us to feel the normal circumstances that accompany life at every turn. For the autumn, the citizens of Münzbach are called upon to give a little insight into their photo collections. Topothequer Karl Schmidtberger and the community are already looking forward to continuing to grow their digital archive.
