A / NOE: Grafenschlag: Topotheque online

The Topotheque of the market town of Grafenschlag in the Waldviertel is open! With the photographs, the five-person Topotheque team draws an impressive picture of everyday life in the villages of the Grafenschlag municipality. Some of these pictures, which were only taken because of the people depicted, represent unique topographical building blocks for the pictorial reconstruction of the place. In these three randomly selected photos of people, the photographer has hardly placed any documentary value on the background. Today these photos are unique precisely because of the perspectives they provide of the site at that time. The pictures of the theater group and carnival jesters, the school photos and pictures of the fire brigade, the quarreling gentlemen in the tavern and many examples from the world of work tell of the diversity of village life. Photos of old crafts such as the shingle maker or the large court saw or the contemporary „Lazy Sound Searchers“ point beyond the regional interest: here. In addition, there is historical meteorology: the dated images of a late onset of winter on May 1st can be a small brushstroke for the big picture of weather history. And here is another question for the young at heart gentlemen who have once driven mopeds themselves: who knows this sporty modification of a DS 50? And who knows how many additional admirers were credited to this makeover…
