A / K: Magdalensberg: Topotheque online

„Here is our attraction“, the governor and the mayor seem to say in 1969. Because the market town of Magdalensberg in the Klagenfurt Basin is home to what is probably Austria‘s oldest youth. Here, in the country‘s largest excavation site, traces of the „City on the Magdalensberg“ and thus the center of the Celtic kingdom of Noricum can be found. The Romans later settled in this area, leaving behind the aforementioned bronze sculpture from the first century BC. The original, however, can no longer be found after an eventful travel past, but at least a cast can still be viewed. Most of the entries in the Magdalensberg topotheque are of course from more recent times, which most Magdalensberg residents can still remember. Because this is where the digital collection should start, so that people and events that are still known, as well as buildings and processes, can be preserved electronically for posterity. Maybe you were here on holiday or to visit the excavations and took photos? The Topothek Magdalensberg team is looking forward to new contributions!
