Farmhouse parlor in the 1930s: if you look closely, you can see that the bed is in the same room @ Markus Wieser

A / NOE: Hochneukirchen -Gschaidt online

The southernmost municipality in Lower Austria, located in the „Dreiländereck“ Lower Austria / Burgenland / Styria, went online on the day of the winter solstice. All 12 villages of the municipality Hochneukirchen-Gschaidt are already represented with entries. The basis of this Topotheque is the fund of local history researcher Markus Wieser, who gives an insight into his extensive collection. For many years he has collected material from far beyond the municipal boundaries that documents local traditions. This includes, for example, a picture of the wood cones typical of the region, a special way of stacking the sawn timber. An equally vivid example of the forgotten everyday life are the birch brooms, which Markus Wieser tied himself with knowledge of the craft in order to be able to capture them in photos for posterity. Legendary traces can also be seen in this Topotheque: what is the cave of the „Bordatn Gretl“ (bearded Margarethe) all about? Perhaps new versions of the legend will appear on the basis of the Topotheque.
