LEADER Region meets to share experiences of local history centres
The LEADER Region of the Traunviertel Alpine Foothills invited local history centre coordinators from the region’s municipalities to Sierning. Local historians there demonstrated how Topotheques are far more than just image archives – they are living mediators of local history and valuable partners for local history lessons in primary schools.
In a keynote speech, project manager Sigi Kristöfl highlighted the opportunities for close cooperation between Topotheks and schools. LEADER manager Josef Wolfthaler presented the latest promotional material: a thousand beer mats per municipality featuring a historical view and a QR code – bringing the source of stories from the past right to the table.
The centrepiece of the meeting was mutual exchange: on local presentations, history get-togethers, challenges with data entry and tagging, as well as newly discovered private collections and unexpected treasures from the local community.
