Overwhelming interest from Blindenmarkt residents in the municipality’s Topotheque
As part of the 2026 Cultural Spring, Franz Wögerer and his dedicated team of Topotheque volunteers held the popular presentation of the Blindenmarkt image database in the foyer of the Ybbsfeldhalle in front of an audience of around 150 guests.
With over 11,000 image entries, this Topotheque is truly impressive. For several years now, the Topotheque curators have been voluntarily organising and archiving this photographic material, which has been kindly made available by the people of Blindenmarkt for the general public to view at any time.
Head archivist Franz Wögerer gave a captivating tour of the evening’s visual material, focusing on the ‘1940s and 1950s’ – supported by personal and moving accounts from contemporary witnesses Herma Besenböck, Erna Redl, Herma Pichler, Werner Strunz and Herbert Eblinger.
“Further thanks for the Topotheque evening are also due to the members of the Culture Committee, Councillor Stefanie Guger, Councillor Julia Panstingl and Councillor Franz Lanxenlehner, who, as always, took charge of catering for the guests and thus the collection of funds for future Topotheque investments,” concluded Deputy Mayor Anita Pitzl and Councillor for Culture Martina Gaind.
