The market town of Arnoldstein borders on the Karawanks and the Carnic Alps and thus forms, on the summit of the Ofen, a tri-border area between Italy, Slovenia and Austria, which is served by a mountain railway. This border triangle is more than just a meeting of national borders, it is also the intersection of the three major European cultures: Germanic, Romance and Slavic. At first glance, you don‘t even notice all of these meanings in the market town. Here, in the collected images of the recently released Topotheque, the border crossing, the Bleiberg Mining Union and the fairs are in the foreground – flowing through tourism, working life and customs.
Who knows the name of the hermit from Ober Schütt or the owner of the very first car in Arnoldstein? There are also still unanswered questions from a more recent past: Do you still know the answers to the questions about the activities in the plant that were completed not so long ago?
