As part of the “National History Day” event series, the Ivanec Topotheque went online with an opening event on May 10, 2024. The town of Ivanec in the northeastern part of Croatia, located in the valley of the Bednja River, was founded in 1396, which allows a deep dive into the past. The history teacher Suzana Jagić and the school librarian Draženka Stančić launched the „Archive of Memories – Topotheque Ivanec – Region and People“ as a school project with the aim of introducing younger generations to knowledge about the tradition and history of their city to share. In order to have personal points of contact, the focus in this Topotheque is on people and their everyday lives, from pottery crafts and bakeries to numerous school photos and happy leisure memories. With access to one‘s own life story, this Topotheque will encourage not only history experts, but everyone to collect and research local heritage – everyone interested is welcome on board. So that even at first glance inconspicuous motifs are not lost and can develop their remarkable atmosphere.
