A / NOE: Mautern an der Donau: Topotheque online

Just in time for the start of Advent, the Topotheque of the municipality of Mautern an der Donau was opened and now invites you to browse through the past of this historically significant place. Embedded in the unique cultural landscape of the Wachau, the town is located on the southern bank of the Danube opposite the town of Krems an der Donau. The history of Mautern can be traced back to ancient times. The citizens are particularly proud of their region‘s Roman past. Based on the collections from the last decades but also from the municipality‘s extensive archive, the Topothek Mautern forms a memory of the city and its cadastral communities that is accessible to everyone. Discover the Danube in the winter of 1936 as an ice skating paradise for young and old or the fascination of a gas station in the mystical night light, also around 1936. The little fireman from the same time may make you smile and is a good step into to the Mautern Topotheque!
