Full speed ahead into the past: The municipality of Kuru is located in southern Finland near the city of Tampere. In March of this year a small team started the “Kurun Memory Project”, the processing of local history in a Topotheque. The work is still in its infancy, write the Topothequer Kyösti Aalto and Juhani Latomiemi in their foreword. But there are already some interesting recordings to see – and to hear! Audio recordings with memories of the past document the story as well as an exciting selection of images that also tell moving stories, such as that of the steamship „Kuru“ which sank in September 1929 and cost many people their lives.
