“Research projects like ours benefit immensely from the involvement of citizen scientists from the general public. The Topothek project is a striking example of the extent to which valuable sources for science are discovered and preserved – sources that would be lost without the voluntary commitment of these individuals,” said the two co-directors.
The “Connecting Memories” team is delighted that the search for traces of forced labour in Lower Austria is being significantly strengthened by the long-standing expertise and extensive network of Topothek staff.
The project primarily seeks sources, photographs and documents from private collections, as these can significantly expand our understanding of forced labour. The collaboration with the Topothek is therefore particularly valuable, as it provides access to such materials.
