A / NOE: St. Margarethen/S.: Opening event

In the district of St. Pölten, the Topotheque of the municipality of St. Margarethen an der Sierning went online with an evening event. In the ballroom of the Schmidl inn, Mayor Brigitte Thallauer opened the new Topotheque from which its curators, moderated by Rudolf Sieder, presented a selection of over three thousand digitised items. Alexander Schatek explained how the Topotheque works and its role in the historical cultural landscape. Rudolf Sieder gave a lively account of how the Topotheque of St. Margarethen came into being: a photo of his birthplace from 1895, which was still thatched at the time, that he had come across gave him the personal impetus to start a Topotheque for St. Margarethen. On the one hand, to pass on knowledge and sources to interested parties, and on the other hand, to enrich the digital collection by displaying historical material.

From the diversity of the new Topothek, which invites visitors to browse, we would like to highlight the charming details such as the wooden gate and glass ornaments of the house that once stood on the site of today’s community centre. And also the vivid insights into the cooper’s workshop.
