Digitally archiving private history and personal stories and making selected items accessible to an interested public an also be the motivation for creating a Topotheque. Here we present one such example: the Adler family‘s private Topotheque. This Topotheque has two starting points: first, it is intended to display the now digitized images of their former homeland and family to relatives on other continents. Second, an extensive collection of photos with well-researched information has been inherited. Therefore, Topotheque‘s curator Harald Adler sees it as his responsibility to continue the historical work and make the collection accessible to the public. The Topotheque can be used for both private and public purposes. Images intended only for a close circle are simply not made public. However, family members can still admire the non-public entries on the front page with a password.
The holdings of this family Topotheque also include some tidbits from the local history of Laa/Thaya – take a look! adler-fam.topothek.at – This is just the beginning.
