A / K: Klagenfurt: Workshop at the state archives

On 26 June 2025, the Kärntner Bildungswerk and the Carinthian Provincial Archives organised an afternoon lecture at the Carinthian Provincial Archives entitled ‘Topotheques and the depiction of National Socialism, war and dictatorship’. Presentations by Anton Holzer, photo historian and publisher of the magazine ‘Fotogeschichte’, Anna-Lena Stabentheiner, Carinthian State Archives and Gerold Taschek, State Office for State Protection and Counter-Extremism of the Carinthian State Police Directorate dealt with the most important aspects that need to be considered in this sensitive topic in the context of Topotheque work.

The most important realisation: a Topotheque that shows a cross-section of local history and whose contents therefore only partly originate from the Nazi era will not fall under suspicion of re-activation. If the Topotheque deals largely or exclusively with this era, a disclaimer should be published to this effect.
