The aim of the ‘Swiss Mill Archive Association – muehlenarchiv.ch’ is to set up and operate a centralised mill archive in Switzerland and make it accessible to interested parties. The aim is to preserve documents relating to mills for posterity. In meticulous preparation, Heinz Schuler and Peter Glasl have already uploaded over 600 documents, mainly sketches, drawings etc., to the Topotheque. The collection includes mills in the individual cantons of Switzerland as well as those from neighbouring countries such as Germany, France, Italy, England, Austria… to name but a few. Anyone who previously thought ‘a mill is a mill’ will be amazed at how many different types of mills there are or once were, e.g. grain, water or wind mills, to name just the most common. Have fun clicking through the mill archive.
